FOR MANY YEARS I HAVE BEEN PAINTING WITH OIL AND ACRYLIC, STARTING WITH REALISM ON LOCATION: SCENERY, FLOWERS, AND STILL LIFE — PRIMARILY SELF-TAUGHT.

I developed a reputation for use of brilliant colours, and eventually produced many impressionist and surreal canvases. With private lessons from University of Montreal Art Professor Wadie El Mahdy I learned drawing and modern art.

My education was completed with four years in the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo, where professors Art Green and Doug Kirton encouraged me to develop my own unique style. For a long time I had wanted to paint abstract art but learned this cannot be taught. My teachers told me to "think outside the box" and with my last painting it happened. Voilà, abstract art. Many of my paintings since then — mixed media collage on canvas — have been representations of different metals in various situations.

From March 15 to 18, 2007 I exhibited several of these at Metro Toronto Art Exposition at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Each one is based on my own original drawings as a result of images that enter my mind in the middle of the night.

Artists and dealers at the Toronto Art Expo commented that my work reflects a unique and highly original style — a new and refreshing contribution to the world of art.

My paintings are available for private viewing. To make an appointment, please send me an e-mail to arrange a suitable time.
